The Innovation Hub - Shifting the Paradigm.

German energy company, innogy sought to create an autonomous organization within the company that supported disruptive technology. This manifested in The Innovation Hub; a driver of new ideas, business models, and disruptive shifts in the fields of artificial intelligence, energy, and cyber ventures among other topics. Overseeing a small, agile team, we worked strategically to create the presence of The Innovation Hub online. This included associated workshops and conferences, as well as countless design extensions to bring it all to life.

The innogy Innovation Hub created an annual ‘Unconference’, inviting a large range of participants to each year’s event, at which time the company’s large global community would gather in the heart of Berlin. Bringing together leading investors and founders, as well as key decision-makers from major industrial firms in innogy’s global client network, the event served as an opportunity to think long and hard about future possibilities and solutions for the energy industry.

Working with my team, we established branding for the UnConference as a whole and subsequently designed the event itself based on bespoke themes, 2 years running. This included designing the IPRIZE; an international start-up competition awarded at the UnConference that sought to lay a strong foundation for developing new business models that use technology to benefit humanity.

In 2020, The Innovation Hub evolved into Future Energy Ventures—a unique venture capital and collaboration platform bringing together corporate partners and world-class start-ups to shape the future energy landscape. This required a new logo and identity to introduce the Platform.

A living logo was developed that illustrated movement and change, embodying the next phase of the business and bringing a fresh and vibrant look to the venture.

Impact

The strategic communications created a more tangible understanding of the Hubs offerings, while the designated website ensured this information was cohesive and accessible, allowing The Innovation Hub by innogy to reach a targeted audience, bringing a substantial increase of new start-ups into the fold. Branding and event design for the UnConfernece brought an interpretation of The Innovation Hub into a necessary dialogue, bringing vibrant energy and continuity to the events.
