The Social Art Award 2021: A vision of New Greening
In 2017 IFAI launched the Social Art Award to recognize artistic expression aimed at creating social impact and change. For each year the award is announced, a new theme emerges challenging artists to think differently and collaboratively to creatively solve problems to envision brighter futures. For 2021, the theme for The Social Art Award: New Greening, seeks to recognize visionary works from artists co-creating positive futures as the UN-decade on Ecosystem Restoration begins.
To bring the New Greening theme to life, the branding and overarching design direction for the project were created to reflect its mission—as modern, dynamic, and symbolic. From the logo’s nod to ‘Big Brother’, to distinctive pattern usage, the design established an iconic and equally recognizable aesthetic for the theme—elevating 2021’s Social Art Award in the disciplines of Art, Innovation and Science.
The design communication was deployed in social media channels and online events and workshops encouraging people from around the globe to participate, learn, and engage in creating positive futures together for our planet.
Creating and overseeing the design communications throughout the project, as well coordinating various aspects of the award—from online events, to sponsorship and jury acquisition—I’ve set the visual standard, ensuring cohesiveness throughout the project, while tapping into my extensive network for sponsorship and support.
Impact
WIth 700+ submissions from over 147 countries, and 16 partners worldwide, the Social Art Award has reached international audiences and contributors from around the globe—encouraging collaboration and solutions to the challenges of tomorrow.
